setup issues for gps ultra data logger on Mega 2560

Post by jtabatch »

what would you recommend for setting up the above because currently whatever I try is not working , no gps output, not reading the gps. Is the 2560 not compatible with the gps ultra logger ?

Thanks

Problem fixed . Using the GPS Ultra Data Logger with the Mega 2560. Set soft / Direct switch to Direct and removed D1 and D2 header pins on the logger so that there is no direct connection to D1 and D2 pins on the 2560 from the logger . Then provided jumpers from the D1, D2 pins on the logger to D18 and D19 pins on the Mega. Used Hardware serial parsing example program and got the NMEA to work but still not parsing components ie time etc. Found out there were 2 GPS source code folders , Adafruit_GPS-Master and the other Adafruit_GPS_library containing different program and header files but named the same. It seems the _library files are apropos for hardware serial so renamed the -master files and recompiled which fixed the parsing problem. Anyway I can get some sleep tonight.
