Adafruit motor shield v 2.3

Post by princess123 »

My shield's power indication is on. But it is not working. How to test it to get sure it works properly?

Please provide us with some details:
  • What motor are you using?
What power supply are you using?
    What code are you using?
Please post some photos of your soldering and connections to the shield.

I'm using Firgelli Light Duty Linear Actuator. 12 vdc, 35 lb, 4'. No load is applied for now.
And i'm using DC motor test example.
It was working before. I had a problem with the previous arduino. I got a new one. But the actuator is not moving anymore; even though the code uploads properly to the arduino.

According to the Firgelli site, that model has a current draw of up to 5A. That is well above the 1.2A continuous/3A peak that the shield can handle. Most likely, the bridge chip on your shield was damaged by the overload.

Check www.pololu.com for a selection of motor drivers with higher current capabilities.
