Motor Shield Product 1438

Post by dgkindy »

So I just received my motor shield and scratching my head a bit. Perhaps I purchased the wrong product, but it will work. I watched the videos about soldering the 0.1 header that allow you to plug the shield into the Arduino. Where I am getting lost is how do I connect the sensors to the Arduino now? Is the idea to solder the sensors directly into the shield into the analog and digital ports that are just to the inside of the holes that get filled by the 0.1 header? At this point, I am just learning and not sure exactly how this all works. So my thinking it that the sensors get plugged into a bread board and then just jump to the required control pins.

There are several ways to connect additional circuits to a Shield.

First, you can solder connections directly to the row of holes parallel to but inside the holes for the pin header.

Second, you can solder female header into the inner rows of holes and plug jumpers into those.

Third, you can use stacking header to carry the pluggable parts through from the Arduino to the Shield:
