CAP1188 Is always detecting

by aelorduy on Thu Dec 14, 2017 6:59 am

I'm having trouble with the CAP1188 Capacitive sensor. I connect it the exact way as shown in the images posted on the product's page and follow the steps. Without any cables attached to the pins, the sensor works fine. Leds come on when touched and off when not. However, if I attach a cable to one of the pins and I don't touch the cable, the led will stay always on and the console will tell me that the pin is getting a digital signal when it shouldn't.

Please post photos showing your soldering and connections to the board.

Here are pictures of the connections. I believe the soldiering is good, no connected pins between eachother. It works perfectly fine when only touched by finger on the sensor. But leds turn on when a cable is connected but not touching anything.

We can't see the whole length of the wire you have attached. But a longer wire means increased sensitivity. And too much sensitivity can result in false triggering.

The CAP1188 does allow you to adjust the sensitivity. This thread discusses how to do that. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=55900
