Hello,
I have another student this year working with the PowerBoost 500 shield that is made by Adafruit. We aslo purchased a 2000 mAh battery to use in her project. No matter how long we keep a power source plugged in to the charging micro USB connector the shield never shows that the battery is charged and when we turn on the power switch, the blue LED never comes on unless the arduino is connected via its USB connector.
Do we have a defective shield?

Re: Adafruit PowerBoost 500 Shield Not charging Battery
Any help here would be most appreciated. My student's project has a deadline that is approaching and not having a working shield is preventing her from testing her project. How would we know if the shield is defective?

It could be a problem with the shield or with the battery. With the battery disconnected, what is the voltage reading between the battery leads?

Thank You Bill,
I will check when my student shows up in the next 20 minutes or so and get back to you about the battery voltage.

Hi Bill,
Sorry for dropping off the face of the cyberEarth, the real world flu virus got the better of me.
The battery reads 3.81 volts across its unconnected leads. This is after being plugged into the shield and being charged for days.
Is it the battery?

3.81v is an almost fully charged battery. If you plug the battery into the shield and connect power to it for 10 minutes or so, what voltage do you measure at the battery connection?
