Connecting Adafruit Motorshield V1 onto my Elegoo Mega2560 r

Post by intisarhaque »

Hiya, new user here.
After connecting the motorshield to my elegoo mega 2560, program which I am uploading cannot locate my arduino I believe.
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\\.\COM4": The system cannot find the file specified.

avrdude: ser_drain(): read error: The handle is invalid.

avrdude: ser_send(): write error: sorry no info avail
avrdude: stk500_send(): failed to send command to serial port
avrdude: ser_recv(): read error: The handle is invalid.

There are the errors I get.
To diagnose I went onto the Device Manager, and without the motorshield connected, the device manager displays the arduino under Ports and Com4.
With the motorshield connected the arduino disappears however from the ports list.
Any ideas?
Thank you

Please post photos showing your soldering and connection to the shield.

The symptoms you describe sound like a short circuit somewhere. But that is not one of our shields. DK Electronics should be able to help you diagnose the problem.
