Ultimate GPS Logger Shield + Wemos D1 R2

Post by perlix »

Would it be safe to plug the Ultimate GPS Logger Shield on top of a Wemos D1 R2 (a 3.3V esp8266 board with Arduino Uno footprint)?
The schematic of the shield seems to suggest 5V logic level on RX, but if I read the datasheet of the PA6H module correctly, it is VCC of the chip, which (I suppose) would be 3.3V.

Think I found the answer by connecting RX to an analog input pin. The Serial Plotter shows readings that never exceed 3.3V, so I guess it's safe to plug the shield on top of a Wemos D1 R2. Nice, because based on current GPS position, I can now download an appropriate map and show it on a TFT display.
