One person mentioned that a W5500 Seeedstudio Ethernet shield has failed:

I just got the same shield from another vendor, and the issue I have is that the shield works (using the Webserver example) for about 90 to 180 seconds, then fails.
I've tried this with Arduino 1.8.3 and Arduino 1.8.5, with the Ethernet2 library (1.0.4) from two different Ubuntu 16.04 machines, with two different non-clone Arduino Unos.
I bought a Seeedstudio W5500 a few months ago, and the setup worked beautifully. I'm wondering if there was a bad batch of chips, soldering, or a library change that might have been the culprit.
I see there was some discussion on stackexchange using the W5200; don't know if it might be related. This essentially sounds like the same thing I'm getting:

I tried adding in the snippet
Code: Select all
#define SDCARD_CS 4
void setup():
//...//
pinMode(SDCARD_CS, OUTPUT);
digitalWrite(SDCARD_CS, HIGH);
I hope this enough data for someone to help figure out a solution. Having an Ethernet card on an Arduino is a great way to ship/access data.
