Using partition 1, type is FAT32
Files found (*= fragmented}:
SYSTEM-1/
INDEXE-1DAT
3-18WA-1. WAV
subdir: SYSTEM-1/
Playing 3-18WA.WAV

But still no sound

Playing 3-18WA.WAV

According to that, it has found the file and is trying to play it. So the problem must be somewhere in the audio circuit.

If you have an ear-bud type headphone, connect a wire from the 'sleeve' to the GND pin. Then touch the 'tip' to either end of R7 while the file is playing. Do you hear anything?

Does it start and stop when the file is supposed to be playing, or is it constant?

But no sound coming from the speaker? Can you read the characters printed on the top of IC2 and IC3 and post them here?

Those are the correct parts. So there are 2 issues:
1 - why is the output of the DAC noisy
2 - why is there no sound from the speaker.

Regarding issue #1: If you play the same file on your computer, does it sound OK?

Regarding issue #2. Using the same headphone with a wire connected to ground. Touch the tip to pin 1 of IC2 (the pin closest to the dot) and play the file again. Is the sound similar to what you heard on R7?

OK. That is a good sign. I suspect that there is a marginal connection somewhere in the audio circuitry. Since the signal coming out of the DAC is noisy, we can start looking there.

Please post some photos that clearly show the soldering on the jumpers. Photos from about a 45 degree angle are best so we can clearly see the shape of the solder joint.
