2.8" TFT Arduino Shield Extended Commands EXTC Pin

Post by apertus »

I am looking for some clarification regarding the EXTC pin on the 2.8" TFT Arduino Shield (we have the capacitive touchscreen version but I guess that doesn't matter here).

The EXTC pin is supposed to enable the extended commands (like setting gamma curves, etc.). There is no mention of this pin anywhere in the schematics/board files so I first assumed it was connected to VDD inside the flex PCB. Unfortunately accessing or setting extended commands does not work (always returns 0) which is strange as the initialization code already tries to access them (apparently without actually making any effective changes). I did some research and most people say EXTC is disabled (connected to ground) on most/all these TFTs already in the factory.

I did find the "sekret" code to in the adafruit library to read the extended data but what about setting extended command parameters?

Does anyone know more about this?
