Powering with wall adaptor?

Post by lubber »

Hi there,

I see this 9 VDC 1000MA REGULATED SWITCHING power adaptor recommended for Arduino projects- I am wondering if the power requirements change once I've added a "music maker mp3 shield with power amp"?

Do I need more power now that I've soldered a music maker shield to my Ardruino? Also unsure how many milliamps are ideal? I'm a total Newbie, thanks in advance for your patience ;)

1000mA should be sufficient for any of the Arduino boards plus a music-maker shield. Most processor boards draw less than 50mA. And the absolute theoretical max you could pull from the music maker would be about 800mA. But real-world sound files would not do that for more than a few microseconds at a time.
