Change data logger shield address

Post by RCAVelez »

I have a new data logger shield from adafruit and it’s address is set to 0x68. I’d like to change this default address. Is there a jumper I can solder to do this on the shield?

The PCF8523 RTC chip on the shield has a fixed address of 0x68. There is no option to change it.

Would you happen to know of an sd shield or logger that has a default address that is not 0x68,0x69,0x70?

I don't know of one. The i2c address is for the RTC chip and almost all of them use address 0x68. The SD card uses SPI, so there is no conflict there.

If you don't need the RTC (some processors like the M0 already have a built-in RTC) you could either cut the SDA/SCL traces to the RTC chip, or use just an SD breakout like this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/4682
