Connectivity issue on Adafruit Audio FX Sound Board 16mb

Post by BenjaminNah »

#2220- Audio FX Sound Board 16mb. (order #2699786-2065175261)

Out of 30 purchased units, I have 5 defective sound boards which would constantly connect & disconnect when plugging into PC (windows 10) via USB. Any file that we managed to upload successfully (correct file size) is still corrupted and will loop when the sound board is connected to a speaker.

I've tried multiple USB cables & PCs that work with other devices to no avail.

All 30 units had no external power connected to the board when I transferred via USB. For note that the other 25 units purchased together works fine with the same procedure.

Weird. They are at least attempting to show the AUDIOFX folder? Seems like you were able to get files to copy over once?

The ADAFRUITSFX folder would show up occasionally, but would quickly lose connection with my PC - Constant connecting & disconnecting.

No human interaction to Sound Board occurred during the process, and physical connection between PC, Cable & Sound board was secure.

Do kindly note that any files managed to be uploaded into the ADAFRUITSFX folder would be corrupted (Looping) when we attempted playback from sound board.

**This is the same situation for all 5 defective sound boards.

And just to be sure - this is the behavior out of the box? You mention no external power connected. But there's also nothing else being attached or done to the boards other than USB cable to transfer sound files?

Yes, nothing else is connected to the board.

We have only soldered the pins that came along with the board, photos as attached for reference.

Thanks. Let's just replace them. That soldering looks excellent. But please test the replacement boards for general functionality before soldering on headers.

Send an email to [email protected] with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you 5x replacement Audio FX Boards.

Thanks for the replacement notice.

We did a test and discovered 6 more sound boards facing the same issues - from the same order number.

Do confirm if we can seek replacement for the 11 units please.

Thank you.

Yep, we can replace all of them. Have you tested all units at this point?
