ProtoShield + USBtinyISP

by Felixe on Mon Mar 10, 2008 7:54 pm

I have an Arduino sketch working perfectly with an LCD display connected to my ProtoShield. Now I would like to update the program via USBtinyISP.

Is it possible?

I think it is, so I decided to test it. My Arduino is externally powered so I removed the jumper on the USBtinyISP and then tried to figure out which pin is 1 on the protoShield, I saw a little circle and connected there the 6 pin header from the USBtinyISP.

My display kept working so I started Arduino.exe and the serial port options where grayed out. I tried reversing the ICSP connector (yes, not a very good idea) and the only thing that happened was that I messed up the text displayed.

Just to confirm, is it possible? What would be the right procedure?

Felix.

Sorry, I asked without finishing reading:

In Arduino 0010, this is no longer possible. The functionality will return (in different form) in Arduino 0011.

Taken from http://www.arduino.cc/en/Hacking/Programmer

Now I know.
