Protoshield Assembly Question

by rickson34 on Thu Mar 13, 2008 7:35 am

First of all, I would like to say thank you so much for the awesome website!! It has some awesome info.

I just put together the protoshield. I was nervous at first but I must say my soldering came out pretty good.

I do have a newbie question. I have the Arduino Diecimila. Do I solder the 3-pin female header on the ICSP connector or is that strictly just for the Arduino NG?

Thank you so much for your time,

Joe

The 3-position header is there to connect the reset button on the protoshield to the chip reset.

The Diecimila has a separate reset connection on one of the other headers that can be used instead (assuming you've put in the other headers).

In other words, if you are only using a Diecimila, you should not need the 3-position header.
