Inputs using Shift Registers

by 100mph on Sun Mar 30, 2008 12:53 pm

Arduino newbie here!

The motor shield uses most of the Arduino I/O pins. I need to add a shift register to the mix (which requires three I/O pins for the Latch, Clock and Data Pins). I am running two stepper motors off the motor shield. Can I hi-jack the servo pins and use them for the shift register? I can't quite understand the schematic. Does anyone know which Arduino pins are devoted to the servo? Or better yet if any other I/O pins are free?

Thanks,
mg

yup, i think that pins 9 and 10 are for the servo and wouldnt be used. theres also pin 2 (which has a hole next to it for soldering) and pin 13 (which is the 'debug led' on the arduino)
