TLV2462 for Wave Shield

by thegreatbambino09 on Wed Jul 30, 2014 10:17 pm

I'm in the process of putting together the Wave Shield for my Arduino Uno. I'm following the instructions but I ran into a little problem. This is what the instructions say:

"Next is the operational-amplifier (op-amp) IC3. It is used to buffer and amplify the output, so that it can drive a small speaker or headphones.
This chip may be labeled TS922 or TLV2462
This is a similar-looking chip to the DAC. Again, check that the notch matches the silkscreen notch. In this photo, thats to the left."

I received the TLV2462 in my Wave Shield kit but the TLV2462 doesn't have a notch to tell which way it goes. It does have an indentation on it but that's not the notch the instructions are speaking of. Is there another way of figuring out which way it goes? Should i place it just like the TS922 shown in the picture?

If you look at the Adafruit picture you will see two chips with both the notch and the dimple showing. the dot is on pin one and would be the end that would have the notch.

The Adafruit picture shows three chips with all three of them having the notch. Could you be a little be clearer. I appreciate the help.

so you're saying if my TLV2462 did have a notch it would be on the same side as the dot/dimple?

Both the dot and the notch signify the end with pin one. The dot is next to pin one.

Not to mention the SN74 chip has the NOTCHon one side.. and the DOT on the other..

so your advice isnt very helpful/accurate IMHO.. (if your trying to relay the dot means the notch side, as that chip doesnt follow that advice)

Could have just said what way it was to be positioned instead. (and the directions never got updated either, 2+ years later)

Also had the same problem. Thanks to franklin97355 for the solution.

A few mins after, went onto the https://github.com/adafruit/WaveHC page which has a picture of the TLV2462 without a notch for anyone wanting a visual:
