Stepper problem

by gekko on Thu May 22, 2008 10:41 pm

Having a problem getting my stepper motor up and running.

No mater what combination of variables i put into the sample code given from the motor shield tutorial page all the stepper will do is go forward then back (very short distance, only a few degrees) in a loop.

The stepper is rated at 12V DC and I've tested the output voltages of the motor shield to the stepper and they seem to max at around 5V DC. I think this might be the problem. How do i set the motor shield to output 12V DC? I'm using the standard 9V DC wall adapter from the Arduino starter pack.

thx again for any help!

if the stepper is 'jittering' then make sure you have it wired up correctly. sounds like you have some motor windings swapped

If you want the motor shield to output 12V then you have to supply it with 12V
