Unipolar stepper and motor shield wiring

by acastronovo on Fri Sep 12, 2008 3:59 pm

I am confused about the wiring here-in the tutorial it is unclear which of the ports on the bulkhead should correspond to a given coil. For example, it says that one coil should connect to either m1 or m3 and the other coil should connect to the respective m2 or m4. Does it not matter what order each coil is connected to the motor ports? i mean, for each coil, there are two wires, but no clear indication which of the two wires goes into which side of a motor port. That make sense? Sorry if this is stupid, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks very much!

the coils are symmetric, if you switch them around it will change the direction but inside there's no real difference
see the many tutorials
