Problem with Raspi2, Arduberry and Servo Shield

Post by sisomm »

Hi,

I am upgrading this project to Raspberry 2.: https://utbrudd.bouvet.no/2014/03/10/an ... -and-mqtt/. I can't get the arduberry to behave well with the servo shield.. I have started a support issue with Dexter Industries, but they are noen the wiser. Can you have a look at this support thread? http://www.dexterindustries.com/topic/p ... post-77542

Not familiar with the Arduberry. All communication with the shield is via the i2c bus. By default, the shied pulls the bus up to 5v. This might be a problem for any 3.3v devices on the bus. There is a "VCC Select" jumper that allows you to switch the shield to use 3.3v logic.

SOLVED! It's a conflict with the SCL and SDA pins used to communicate with the official PI screen.

See how to connect the screen here: http://thepihut.com/blogs/raspberry-pi- ... mbly-guide

Once I removed them, it worked like a charm. Now, what to do... I want to combine Arduberrry/Adafruit with a Pi2 and display...

Could I change the I2C address of the servo shield and hence avoid the conflict?

If it is an address conflict, you can easily re-address the board: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-16- ... he-shields

this solved it! (From CleoQc @ the Dexter forum)

Just jumping in here, maybe the following will be useful?

Found on the Raspberripi.org forums:
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 8&t=120681

If you have a B+, a Pi2 or an A+ you need not connect the i2c GPIO wires as they are taken care of in the DSI ribbon connector.

I just received the official screen, but I haven’t opened the box yet. And I don’t own an Arduberry. So I’m not speaking from experience.

Here's a video of the end result: A plastic skull, Makeblock, etc. It can be used as a showcase for the local code clubs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o23ZX6JZyZY
