Greetings all!
Been reading the forum for ages and decided to join.
I'v decided to make the sim reader as i have all the parts on hand, however, my laptop has no serial socket. I have a parallel tho, so would a parallel to serial converter work for this project?
If not, usb to serial?
Cheers!

Yeah, PC parallel ports are 25 pins, but the gender is opposite, and the pins do completely different things, and at different voltages.
RS-232 is serial. Not parallel.

you could probably bit bang parallel to spi. i think that's pretty much how the parallel port avr programmers work.Myrmidon wrote: I have a parallel tho, so would a parallel to serial converter work for this project?
