Advice on ZigBee "Sniffer"/Controller for e.g. Ikea Tradfri

Dear Support,

I hope you may find a spare second to provide a hint for my inquiry as listed in the following:

Which ZigBee module ("XBEE" or similar?) would you recommend to access Ikea's "Tradfri" Zigbee products?
I would like to "sniff", ideally control, send/receive Data from/to my Ikea "Tradfri" (Zigbee controlled) products.

I look forward to hearing from you,
best regards

Marc

From what I have learned since posting my question:

XBee should be able to connect to ZigBee products:
One needs to
- bypass the XBee Application stack
- manually control the ZigBee protocol

To make XBee work with other ZigBee devices:
- If available: Use products' application stacks on top of the ZigBee protocol
- Access XBee via external processor

May I ask if you may hint me towards examples of XBee controlled ZigBees?

Digi does make some ZigBee-specific versions of their XBee modules:
https://www.digi.com/products/embedded- ... bee-zigbee
https://www.digi.com/resources/standard ... networking
But we don't have any hands-on experience with them. You might have better luck posting your question over on the Digi forums:
