Alternative Tweet-A-Watt logging software...

Post by wkoperwhats »

I know that Limor has put a link to this up on the Tweet-A-Watt downloads page (thanks!), but I just wanted to mention it here as well...

I recently released a shareware program called "EnergyLogger", a simple native GUI based, cross-platform application designed to take the place of the Python scripts developed for the original Tweet-A-Watt project.

The program adds a few features missing from the Wattcher software, including:

• Energy cost estimates (hourly, daily, weekly, monthly and annually)
• Strip chart display of Amps/Volts and Watts
• Kill-A-Watt calibration based on a three step process
• Alarms when load remains outside upper or lower limits for a user specified amount of time
• Tweeting alarms in addition to tweeting daily usage statistics

Rather than logging data to the Google App Engine (GAE), EnergyLogger posts readings to a Google Doc spreadsheet for further analysis.

The cost is only $10 US and includes free updates to all 1.x versions and online support. Give it a try. I'd really like to hear your feedback.

Thanks.

I bought this software and it's easy to use and works great. If you don't want to mess with all the Python stuff and you are a PC user then this is the way to go. It also runs down in your system tray which is great. When I was using Python it kept randomly closing my program window during tweets. This software also has graphing, google, and tweets built in. It was a no brainer for me. Give it a try.

Does it have a service part as well or just all run as an application, so stops when you log off?

Looks to be a nice front end, I would like to see something thats in the tray on all computers at home, all talking to one service with one xbee reciveing all of the tweetawatts. Possibly moving that into the router like limor did. Sadly my windows programming stopped with delphi 3 back in 1990something so I am _way_ out of date with what is possible now.

Just a quick message to let you all know that as of version 1.2 we have decided to release EnergyLogger as free for non-commercial use. I am currently hard at work on the next release of the software which will incorporate Pachube and direct Google PowerMeter support in addition to many other new features.

Thanks for everyone's support and kind words over the past year.
