XBee Wireless Midi

Post by stevekiraly »

I breadboarded the XBee wireless MIDI project and it worked wonderfully. I am now packaging it into a permanent case and I need to know if a 9v battery with a 5v regulator will work adequately as a power supply ? I know the 4-AA batteries are better suited because of current demands but I will be using this in a live musician situation so I don't really need more than 4-5 hours of battery life per show. If a 9v battery will work I can reduce my enclosure size a bit. Thanks in advance

9v is fine but really it will die in 30 minutes or less

Thanks very much. I'm really surprised by the difference in capacity of a 9v vs. 4-AAs. Can you suggest a reasonable alternative to the 4-AA configuration to minimize space and still be economical ?
