I am having trouble setting up my XBee. I am using the following configuration:
XBee adabter from adafruit
XBee series 1 from ada fruit
usb to serial cable
I connect to the modem using the X-CTU application with the following paramters:
Baud 9600 (made sure that com port is also set at 9600)
Flow Control Hardware (same results with None)
Databits 8
Parity None
Stop Bits 1
Enable API checked
When I click on the Test/Query button I get the following message:
Communication with modem..OK
Modem type = Name unknown (ID = 432462346356..)
Modem firmware version =
Under the Modem Configuration tab I click on Read and it produces the following error:
Failed to enter command mode
Unable to read Version (ATVR)
Read parameters..Failed
When I use the Terminal tab and type +++ no response
When I click on the Restore button on the Modem Configuration a dialoge box asks me to reset the module after reset nothing happens.
Can someone tell me how to get communication with the XBee to work?

Re: XBEE comunication/configuration
check your soldering in the adapter, and make sure the cable is plugged properly

Soldering is perfect I get the green light on, however when I called Digi and went through the trouble shooting process they pointed out that the module itself is the issue and might be a bad module.

Re: XBEE comunication/configuration
its -possible- but its pretty unlikely. These modules are (hopefully) tested by Digi before sold to us Please post a photo of your setup?
Also, are you sure you are selecting the correct COM port?

ok I'm sure I have the correct com port, and I'm sorry but im not able to provide a photo as I dont have the means to take a photo. can we go through a trouble shoot process to determin if the adapter or the modual is bad.

Re: XBEE comunication/configuration
the best way to do that is post a photo. if you have another module or adapter (you probably have two) you could try those. check that the LEDs are doing what they ought to, etc

Re: XBEE comunication/configuration
ok the green light is blinking and all the connections and com ports are fine, I tried 2 different setups and still no luck to getting the modual to work so I think digi was right and the modual is bad, can you make an exchange please.

Re: XBEE comunication/configuration
ok, here's what we're willing to do if you think it's fair - we will send a postage paid return envelope to you with a new tested module - you'll then have two. if it doesn't work, it's something you likely need to fix or troubleshoot and you can then pay us for the extra module or send it back (your cost + the cost of us shipping it out). if a new module fixes your issue, just pop the one that is not working in the mail and you're all done - if this is fair send a note to [email protected] with a link to this post and we will take care of it.nova1 wrote:I only have one modual I only need one for my project.
if you have a solution that you think is more fair, propose it here
cheers,
