ds3231 stability

Post by jpuigdef »

Hi all, I recently bought and mounted a ds3231 together with a mini pro 3.3V 8Mhz and a SD breakout to build a datalogger. I set the time with ds3231 example, and then compiled a sketch to run the datalogger. To save powe, I used low power.h with the instruction (LowPower.powerDown(SLEEP_8S, ADC_OFF, BOD_OFF); The clock date and trime are read through i2c.

After 4 days running, I recovered the data and, when checking the time I noticed the clock was about 4 min. delay.

The datasheet states that ds3231 precision is 2ppm, so in that period it should not have a bias greater than 1s.

Is there any reason for that bias I noticed?

thanks

joan
