The vector files for laser cutting are in the github repository for the project: https://github.com/andydoro/WordClock-N ... _enclosure

I am having trouble finding a vinyl sign place which will do this. Can you tell me who you have used, and where I can send the file?

We use our in-house laser-cutter. There are several on-line laser-cutting services like Ponoko.

You might also check for any nearby maker-spaces that may have a laser-cutter.

I cannot figure out how to extract the .svg file for the faceplate onto my computer so that I can take it to my local sign maker.

Use the green button on the upper right to download the files to your computer:

So I contacted 3 local sign businesses, and actually visited 2 of them, with the .svg file for the faceplate.
They all said that the part was too small for them to cut from vinyl, and they can't laser cut vinyl, either.
I really want to make this, but I am stuck.

The faceplate for the prototype clock in the guide was laser-cut from black acrylic sheet. Most any laser-cutter should be able to handle this:

How thick is that acrylic?
I have a friend with a laser cutter, just have to find the material.
Thanks for all your help.
I plan to use a PIC for the electronics.

The design will work with various thicknesses. It looks lie the original prototype was done with 1/8" (0.125")
Stock thicknesses vary quite a bit from different suppliers. But anything in the 0.100" to 0.175" range should work fine.

Thanks again. I ordered some 1/8" material.
