New Tubes?

by emurt on Thu Sep 10, 2009 12:03 am

My tube for the Ice Tube kit (v.1.1) has 19 leads. The one in the directions has 22. I assume the missing 3 are the "display nc".

How do I know where to put the leads?

Wow, you got your clock kit already?
Cool. I'm hoping for mine tomorrow.

yes, I have not counted the leads on my tube, but I notices when inspecting the parts that there are no "n/c" lines, they are all connected.

Glad I'm not they only one to see this.

Don't worry, we ended up getting two types without realizing it. The tubes work fine, we test each and every one by hand!
We'll post up a detailed photo in a bit. We've already updated the instructions to include photos of the fuse.
Thank you for being patient, we're still working all day and night to ship out the orders and the documentation will be updated shortly.

The instructions have been updated with photos of threading the 'no nonconnect' tubes.

I figured out the fuse on my own (missed the 10K resistor) - but was at a total loss on what to do about the tube (I got one without the unconnected wires).

I'm glad the instructions were updated to cover this tube - now I can continue building...

yes there was a PCB revision that added the fuse (necessary to function) and the zener diode (protects tube but will work without) and 10k pulldown (protects FET, will work without)
if you haven't soldered in the zener diode and 10K resistor we suggest going back and doing that now.
The different tubes were a bit of a surprise but as all tubes are tested, it was just a matter of taking proper photos

Thanks - I had to put the fuse in to get anything to work - luckily, I discovered this early, while testing the power supply - a quick look at the schematic & probing the board let me figure out the fuse was missing. I put in the 10K & zener - and wired the tube according to the new directions - the clock works perfectly!
