Hi,
I purchased a PCF8523 clock.
Unfortunately all the wiring tutorials i can find seem to show a different pin layout on the clock PCB.
Don't know if it's older or newer ? I loaded a pic of the clock.
?
thx,
Paul

Re: PCF8523
That version is meant to attach directly to the GPIO header of a Raspberry Pi as shown here:

This guide does not show that specific product, but all of the software details are the same once you it have it on the Pi:

Re: PCF8523
Hi,
OK, i have some of those pins already connected via a breadboard.
I suppose i can make those six connections via that route ?
EDIT: or can i put it on the GPIO pins and stack other connectors via those 6 contacts on the clock?
thx,
Paul

Yes, that's fine. As long as you wire the pins correctly. You'll also need some kind of gender changer to get the PiRTC to connect to the breadboard.OK, i have some of those pins already connected via a breadboard.

You can also do this. The holes on the top of the should accept additional connections.EDIT: or can i put it on the GPIO pins and stack other connectors via those 6 contacts on the clock?
Just so you know, the same RTC comes in a different breakout:

The one you have in your photo was designed to make mounting directly to the GPIO headers on the Pi easy. If just want to have the RTC be on a breadboard or some other tethered location, the PID 3295 version might be easier to work with.
