Idea: Quick 'n' Dirty USB-Power-Cable

Hi there!

I was thinking about how to run the clock with USB Power without hacking the clock itself.
You need:
  1. a 2.1mm Plug with some cable (maybe from this 9V Battery clip)
  2. a DC/DC-Converter 5V to 9V (like the RI-0509 Datasheet here)
  3. a piece of USB-Cable with an A-Plug at one end (maybe this one )
Solder it together:
black wire from USB-Cable to Converter Pin 1
red wire from USB-Cable to Converter Pin 2
black wire from 2.1mm Plug to Converter Pin 3
red wire from 2.1mm Plug to Converter Pin 4

Should work...

...theoretically.

you'll have to bypass the 7805 - it needs 7V to run

Yeah, but with the DC/DC-converter...?

It delivers 9V.
