Ice tube clock, Filiments glow but no digets.

by youeatwaffles on Mon Apr 12, 2010 12:07 am

I've been haveing problems with the assembly of my ice tube clock, I assembled the clock, I verified my bost converter (about 56 VDC), when I plug it in it beeps once. I havent soldered the tube yet, but I pluged it in for a test and at first I couldnt see but I turned off all of the lights in the room and I saw the 2 filliments glowing orange. I havent inserted my VFT driver chip yet not have I inserted the switches or back up battery. I am a bit of a newb and I really want to understand this stuff, I would appreciate any help, Thanks :D

you need to follow the steps as in the instructions
if you dont place the VFD driver, the VFD will not work

I misunderstood and looked at the picture and thought the digets were lit but I then relized they wernt, I got the kit finished last week and it works great! the alarm waked me up over a blaaaaaaaaaaring box fan, go kit to those who are interested, but just be careful with the VFD tube as they are very fragile. :)
