Connecting PCF8523 to raspberry pi

Post by tanmayj4 »

Hello, I am a beginner level user of raspberry pi. I am trying to connect the "Adafruit PiRTC - PCF8523 Real Time Clock for Raspberry Pi" to my Raspberry Pi 3. I also have the Adafruit Half Size Breadboard + 78 Piece 22AWG Jumper Wire Bundle. Can you please guide me on how to connect and install the clock? Thank you in advance!

@tanmayj4,

Have you taken a look at this guide:

https://learn.adafruit.com/adding-a-rea ... spberry-pi

Connecting it up should be easy:
Connect VCC on the breakout board to the 5.0V pin of the Pi (if using DS1307)
Connect VCC on the breakout board to the 3.3V pin of the Pi (if using PCF8523 or DS3231)
Connect GND on the breakout board to the GND pin of the Pi
Connect SDA on the breakout board to the SDA pin of the Pi
Connect SCL on the breakout board to the SCL pin of the Pi
