common-anode or common-cathode which is better?

Post by doanerock »

I am trying to figure out it is more beneficial to use a common-cathode or common-anode if you have a choice. I read common-anode is more common is because its easier to sink current than to source it. https://electronics.stackexchange.com/a/106834 Except when I search for 7 segment displays I find a lot more common-cathode to choose from even on adafruit. https://www.adafruit.com/product/813

I'm my experience it's mostly a matter of what works best with the driver hardware.
