Does the VFD become warm in operation?

Does the VFD become warm in operation?

I am wondering if the top panel of the Ice Tube clock enclosure shouldn't have vents in it to let out heat?

Do you think it's a good idea or not really needed?

Mine doesn't seem to get warm on top so I don't think vents would do anything.
