You have the wrong resistor installed in R2'. It should be the 100 ohm (Brown, Black, Brown)

And you have the 100 ohm resistor installed in R10. That should be the 10K (Brown Black Orange)

You have the 100K installed in R1. R1 should be a 10K resistor (Brown Black Red).

Ok I just made all of those changes to the board but I still don't have any signs of life..

The red LED won't light and the screen doesn't turn on when plugged in....

I had to solder R2' and R1 on the back of the board because the connections seemed better.

here are some pics.. any more ideas? maybe it's just a dead board?

Any ideas why it's not working? Right now I have a Monocron paperweight. :(

Now that the resistors are in the correct locations, please re-measure the voltages as before.

ok here's the latest readings.. pretty much the same as before - that's why i think it's a bad board

If by 'bad' you mean damaged by the assembly errors, yes that is a possibility. At the very least it seems that the voltage regulator is not functioning.

Before proceeding we need to see the rest of the circuit. Please post a photo showing your soldering on the display.

OK. Nothing there that would cause a short circuit. We can try replacing the voltage regulator. If you contact [email protected] with a link to this thread, we can send one out to you.

Got the new regulator today, replaced the old one and it's working great! I kind of shattered the enclosure in the process of putting it together for so long, but at least the screen works now.... thanks for the debug!

Good to hear that it is working now. Too bad about the enclosure. Check this thread for lots of alternative enclosure ideas: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=14769
