Using a chronodot with the raspberry pi

by Ghi102 on Fri Nov 20, 2015 4:56 pm

I am trying to use the Chronodot RTC with the raspberry pi. I have followed a mix of this tutorial (see post by Penthux):

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/view ... 8&start=50

And this one:

https://learn.adafruit.com/adding-a-rea ... t-rtc-time

However, when I want to read the time or change the time of the RTC, I get this error:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
hwclock: ioctl(RTC_RD_TIME) to /dev/rtc0 to read the time failed: Invalid argument

The chronodot is recognized after doing this in super user mode (I was in the i2c-1 directory):

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
sudo echo ds3231 0x68 > ./new_device

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
i2cdetect -y 1

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE

I have tried the following and it did not work:
