Using a chronodot with the raspberry pi

Using a chronodot with the raspberry pi

I am trying to use the Chronodot RTC with the raspberry pi. I have followed a mix of this tutorial (see post by Penthux):

However, when I want to read the time or change the time of the RTC, I get this error:

hwclock: ioctl(RTC_RD_TIME) to /dev/rtc0 to read the time failed: Invalid argument
The chronodot is recognized after doing this in super user mode (I was in the i2c-1 directory):
