1870 steampunk Clock

I am working on my latest art project. It is an 1870 clock controlled by an open source microcontroller.

I'm fairly new at all this and plan on learning Arduino before I get it finished. I am already taking Linux courses.

These are my outputs needed. (2 steppers, RGB LCD with butttons, 5 haptic motor controllers, Chronodot, and 1 N channel MOSFET. I plan on using 2 Arduinos (One for main and the other for the motor controllers) Should I and can I just use the BeagleBone Black in their place?

The Beagle Bone can certainly handle the processing. But there are limited options for motor control. Arduino or Raspberry Pi may be an easier way to go.
