Any update on the VFD Clock kit?

by boerner on Fri Feb 20, 2009 6:45 pm

Hello,

Any further news on the VFD Clock kit?

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ladyada/sets/72157612534348278/

It looks absolutely gorgeous.

I can beta test if need be :) I am actually half serious. I have done beta testing for both Netgear and Data Robotics.

Thanks again for all of your great work.

I like that one, too. But I'd really like to get this one:

Well, if it is being held up because of Final Fantasy, that's okay then :D

I regret getting my wife into gaming...I now have to wait my turn to play my Xbox 360 or PS3...I shouldn't have showed her The Orange Box or Bioshock.

I'll pay extra for a special edition (perhaps signed?) first run of the clock if that is any incentive

This looks awesome! It'll look great on my desk. :D Will it come with the tube or will the buyer need to go vintage electronics hunting on ebay?

I want to beta one, but I know such basic circuitry I can't really offer much help if I run into any problems...

I can be the control part of the test! :D

This would be great if it could display SMPTE time code also... I use a SMPTE time code generator as a clock in my bedroom, I need one for the livingroom too. It would be even better if you could sync it to SMPTE! :)
(Hmmm, I could always hack it of course...)

Hmm....I have a SMPTE box of some type (two, I think) in my pile of surplus stuff people have given me, and I never thought to use it as a clock. I will have to investigate that now--did you need to modify yours in any way?

All things are better with timecode :-)

Now if you can just get the alarm to sound like someone clapping sticks that would be awesome...

I don't know if I have become rabid like some others, but I am still eagerly anticipating the kit. I can't complain too much though. Judging by the times of their tweets and their live video feeds shipping kits I don't know how Philip and ladyada ever sleep.

i took a 'quarter' off after the holidays to rest which is why there have been no new kit releases since dec...but there are a few in the works now. takes a while to 'gear up'
