Clean vs. No-Clean, and the Environment

Post by bobcruz »

Can anyone tell me whether Adafruit uses a "clean" process or a "no-clean" process for producing its boards?

If a "clean" process, what measures are taken to ensure proper disposal of cleaning solutions?

Thanks!

Can you describe what you mean by "clean"? Our products are ROHS.

The "cleaning" process involves the use of solvents to remove residual flux from a board. If "no-clean" solder is used in the first place, there is no need to clean the board after soldering.
If you would like more detail, I suggest the first few paragraphs of "Clean vs no clean solder process within electronics manufacturing" at https://www.jjsmanufacturing.com/blog/c ... ufacturing".
In a "clean" process, the disposal of cleaning agents may become an issue.
My objective is to learn from your experience and practices.
Thanks!
