i've found an open source/hardware project that i think is really cool. I've parted it out on digikey, and have found a pcb board house that i could get the parts for less than retailers are selling them for. However, i'm at the point of having to order a vga/bga ram chip from China, and if I want to spend time money and effort to make this board, i've never done balling, and I don't have a reflow oven.
Any suggestions people can give me?

Does your board house also do assembly?
If so you could have them do either complete assembly, or just mount that one chip. You might be able to get a price break since it would be a relatively easy setup for them.
