Hello everyone,
Date: 3-8-2018
I am interested in learning about the leadtime for SMT FGPMMOPA6H Ultimate GPS modules.
I have 40 in hand and have an upcoming build that requires 160 more by April 25th.
Is there a way to get an accurate leadtime on this component?
Thank you!

You can sign up for notification on the product page.
Beyond that, we don't do ETAs. There are too many sources of delay in the supply chain that we can't control, and *way* to many people on the internet who think 'estimated' means 'guaranteed'.
You can check with our resellers, especially Mouser and Digikey, to see if they have enough stock on the shelves to meet your time constraints. If not, by all means look around for other suppliers who can deliver what you need by the time you need it.

Re: Leadtime for FGPMMOPA6H
Thanks for the reply adafruit_support_mike,
I completely understand, I know what you mean.
Could I get your help to understand where to source the FGPMMOPA6H directly?
I have searched for trying to find this part on Digikey, Mouser, etc and have been unable to find it in the SMT format.
Would you be able to share where you get them from?
Thanks!

Re: Leadtime for FGPMMOPA6H
I'm sorry, but our supplier contracts forbid sharing source information with third parties.
I can look meaningfully at the datasheet though:

Hi,
On a related matter, I am also considering using the Ultimate GPS Module in a product.
But I'm curious to know:
- Has or will the acquisition of Gtop by Sierra Wireless affected your supply chain?
- Are you still releasing firmware updates?
- Are you working on a newer version of this product?
Thank you.

The official response will be "no comment" three times. There are too many contract-related details in any of the answers, and we aren't allowed to talk about those.
We really won't say anything about firmware updates.. that subject is just catnip for speculation/requests/demands/flamewars that are best stopped as early as possible.
In general, we try to avoid being blindsided by changes in the supply chain in several ways.. we stay in touch with our suppliers, and we keep enough stock in inventory and maintain enough lead time that we have time to react if something unexpected does happen. We also have lists of possible alternate sources for just about everything. Even when our relationships with suppliers are strong and stable, shortages occasionally happen.
Our provisioning and logistics people are pretty good.

Hi Guys,
I found a lot of information on Sierra Wireless' website about GNSS modules. The links to the legacy product reps has been helpful

Re: Leadtime for FGPMMOPA6H
@Adafruit_Mike,
I would like your help. Could confirm if the PA6H you guys sold was the standard SKU for the PA6H module? Apparently there are custom firmware versions, and I would like to order the same variant that I purchased from you guys before.
Thanks!

The version we carry comes with firmware for the LOCUS logging system. I’ll have to check to see if we can say anything more specific.
