Anyone have experience with SMT crystals?
I'm starting to deep dive into SMT development of arduino like devices.
I'm a little swamped by the myriad of choices out there.
Am looking to source cheap 16mhz smt crystals from someone like Mouser or Digikey.
Looking for something in a 0805 package, bigger is ok,
And looking to be convinced that the extra cost of the smt resonator package is worth it.
(I promise I'll update LadyA's parts wiki with info!)

Well, replying to me.
Do some more research man!
Try the interactive catalog at digikey,
You can type in a search key,
Will show you all the pages of their massive catalog where that term appears.
Great for finding this kind of stuff.
Might I suggest:
535-9362-1-ND
SMT Resonator w/cap 16mhz
Cheap! About 30c in 100 qty.
Otherwise you're looking at a 2x cap and crystal combo.
Crystal 535-10226-1-ND @ about 35c each in 10qty.
You'll need some pretty exprensive caps for that.
712-1387-1-ND @ about 46c in 30qty.
If you can get the SMT Resonator to go,
That's definitely the way to go.

how did you arrive at those? I'd think this $0.04 cap should work fine http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSea ... -1103-1-NDYou'll need some pretty exprensive caps for that. 712-1387-1-ND @ about 46c in 30qty.

Der!
Your pick and place jellybeans page was excellent.
I'm just about ready to upscale to reel quantities.
Been ordering sample quantities to make sure the human pic and place can work with them.
But that's a great source for every common part Ive been looking for!
