smart smd tester, pn 1359

by michaele on Mon Jul 01, 2019 4:23 pm

Purchased a couple weeks ago and have tested several times. It reads a short just fine, 0 ohms, but will not read anything else. Tried mounted and not mounted parts, resistors and caps... nothing. It beeps and the screen says 'scanning'. All the parts I tested with this I also tested with other meters, the parts checked out good. I fiddled with combinations of the buttons but again, no measurement. Battery measures 2.956V. Tested with a couple other batteries, 3.154V, 2.960V, similar results. Is it broken? The ad says AF folks use these everywhere. Thanks, Mike

What if you use the FUNC button and set the mode explicitly?

Hi,
I have tried that. What happens is the beeping stops and the screen shows four horizontal bars, like the middle bar of a seven segment display. Once I thought I saw symbols to the right of the bars but could not reproduce it. Releasing the button continues with beeping and 'scan' on the screen. Pressing, pressing and holding hold does nothing. -- Thanks, Mike

Weird. Sounds like this one is doing odd ball stuff. Not sure whats up, they should just work. So let's try a replacement. Send an email to support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement PID 1359.

Just got the replacement and immediately tested it on a bunch of parts.
Works perfectly.
Thanks to all!
