3.5 mm phone jack to bnc

by PRR-III on Thu Feb 02, 2017 12:33 pm

I have a BK Precision 25 MHz digital storage oscilloscope that I use to view signal and control voltages from eurorack analog synth. I noticed someone on YouTube using a 3.5mm phone jack as a probe. My Question: since the voltages are low +- 10 volts max and the current is quite low, can I use a 3.5mm jack to bnc to a standard bnc to bnc cable? If not is there a probe that has the 3.5mm mono jack as a terminator?
Thank you for your help.

This is generally OK.

Just don't input anything the scope can't handle. Sounds like you are aware of that. The only other concern would be a signal integrity issue caused by the adapter. But these adapters are made for this general use. There are also BNC to banana, BNC to alligator, BNC to <insert connector here>, etc. adapters.
