Greasy Alligator Clips?

by GreatLeader_Technus on Sat Feb 04, 2017 10:26 pm

Hi, I've bought two types of alligator clips from here and they have this strange grease or something that won't let me have a good grasp on them. Does anyone know how to eliminate this stuff?

Do they have the soft plastic covers? The vinyl on those can be pretty slick.

Another possibility is that sometimes clips can get bent during manufacturing. If the press tab isn't parallel to the other jaw, it can be tough to make them work. You can check by clamping something like a chopstick between the jaws, then sliding the plastic cover back off the clip. If the press tab is skewed, you can twist it back with a set of pliers. Then clamp the chopstick in the jaws again and slide the plastic cover back over the clip.
