AOYUE 968 SMD/SMT Hot Air 3 in1 Repair & Rework Station

by federico-II on Tue May 04, 2010 12:27 am

There are a number of these on eBay these days, running ~160$. Decided to pony up for one, I am not necessarily going to use the rework, but the soldering station + aspirator seems to be worth the price (if compared with a Weller) in of itself.

Any experience with AOYUE tools? I have never run into them before.

Yes, I know the Wellers are awesome :)

Most seem to be clones of Hakko products, and most reviews of them are positive.

I have an Aoyue 937+ temp controlled iron and it's great.

Indeed they have been knock offs of hakko's. Whom won a few battles against Aoyue in the past. Hakko had the counterfeit tools seized at customs before.

Ian Lesnet (currently of dangerous prototypes fame, bus pirate, etc.) posted a review of this station on Hack a day:
* http://hackaday.com/2009/02/20/tools-aoyue-968-3-in-1-soldering-and-rework-station/

GSMserver lists the Aoyue 968 for $110, everyone else seems to be in the $160 range. Anyone have any experience with GSMserver?
