Issue with ATTEN AT-937 soldering iron

by tkr65536 on Sun Oct 20, 2019 8:51 pm

Hi,
I just received (Friday) a new ATTEN AT-937 soldering iron. After opening it, connecting the iron to the station and setting it for 400°C (as per the tutorial for lead-free solder here, https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-gui ... reparation), it would not reach the temperature.

I waited for well over 30 minutes on multiple attempts (turn off/back on etc). For some of them, the soldering iron was in the holder, other times I held it. Neither had an affect, though holding it enabled it to increase in temperature faster.

It was not sufficiently hot to properly melt the Lead Free solder I just received from Adafruit. Additionally my temperature sensor never registered a temp within 75°C of 400°C.

What can I do to return this soldering iron? And can I receive a refund?

Thank you very much,
Teddy

Send a note containing a link to this page and your order number to support@adafruit.com. The folks there will get you a replacement.
