Question about camera mount threaded inserts

Post by sridhar_rajagopal »

Hi,

I wasn't sure where exactly to post this question, so my apologies in advance if this is the wrong forum for it!

I was looking to use a threaded insert for a camera mount with acrylic for one of my projects, and all of the 1/4-20 threaded inserts I've seen are at least 0.3 inches deep. I would ideally like to embed a 1/4-20 threaded insert in 1/4" acrylic (0.236' nominal) . I did notice that your Adafruit Raspberry Pi Camera Board Case with 1/4" Tripod Mount (https://www.adafruit.com/product/3253) has a very low profile brass camera mount screw hole. It would be great if you could provide me with any pointers for suitable parts that I can use. Is this part custom made for this case, or are such threaded inserts available off the shelf, and that I've just looked in the right place?

Thanks for your help! :-)
Sincerely,
Sridhar

I’m afraid those are custom parts. I don’t know of any low-profile threaded inserts on the general market.

Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it! Looks like my best option are 0.3" deep ones.

Thanks,
Sridhar
