Hello Pakronics,

When did you purchase the speakers from Pakronics in Australia?

What were the USB speakers connected to when the volume control melted?

I searched the forums and have not seen this reported before, but it is of course concerning.

Also the speakers on the pakronics site you linked to seem to be another model of USB speaker different from the product you linked to on the Adafruit site.

Hi there,

It is connected through the USB power board and it works well as of now. The device worked well for few day and randomly damaged like that. It was overheated and melted plastic exposing the inside components shown.

I bought it back in Aug, The image of the product is same as shown on Pakronics.

Let me know your findings.

Sorry about the delay.

It looks like there was some kind of DC power through the speaker, which would have generated a lot of heat.

The unit in the photos is different from the one we carry. Check with the vendor to see if it's covered by their return/replace policy. It looks like your first report of the issue was within 30 days of purchase, so we'd approve a replacement as an early component failure.
